High Noon - $480

7” x 11” - Transparent Watercolor on 140lb. Arches Rough Watercolor Paper

Artist Comments: I love to paint western skies. It really is true that the sky in the American west seems bigger. But to me it’s always been an integral part of my artistic fascination for the grand western landscape. This painting was inspired by the dramatic blazing light illuminating the clouds at mid day.

Sedona / Oak Creek Canyon ( Gray Study ) - $400

8” x 10” - Transparent Watercolor on Bristol

Artist Comments: When working... both in the field and in my studio, I develop painting ideas in a number of ways. Here is one of my favorites. I call these “Gray Studies” because I paint them using only Paynes Gray watercolor. I do these to try out my values, composition, and what I refer to as the “White Design” in a painting. If I like the subject in a Gray Study... I’ll then go on and paint it larger and in full color. But often times the Gray Study itself comes out so nice that I never move on into a color version. There’s just something elegant and striking about these Gray Studies. And this one is a good example.

Rain in the Desert - North of Tubac - $550

8” x 10” - Transparent Watercolor on 140lb. Arches Rough Watercolor Paper

Artist Comments: Tubac is a short drive south from Tucson. The landscape is dramatic at any time of day. And I love it when rain clouds glide across vast landscapes. They always seem to create their own drama, especially when they are also dropping their life-giving moisture across the desert.

There’s Gold in them thar’ hills” - $400

7” x 10” - Transparent Watercolor on 140lb. Arches Rough Watercolor Paper

Artist Comments: I love to drive across the American west. It allows the opportunity to stop anywhere I see something of special interest to me. And the color palette that I’ve evolved for working out west is dramatically different than back in Ohio. Here my artist eye was attracted to this brilliant golden orange mountain... 30 miles off into the distance.

Cadmium & Blues - $400

8” x 10” - Transparent Watercolor on 140lb. Arches Rough Watercolor Paper

Artist Comments: Just a few minutes up the road... I had to stop again as the light changed... and a deep intense band of blue appeared below these distant cadmium orange mountains.

The desert colors are extremely intense and captivating to my eye.

Desert Haze - $450

7.5” x 9.5” - Transparent Watercolor on 140lb. Arches Rough Watercolor Paper

Artist Comments: Sometimes the haze in the desert air makes the setting sun

look like a clean bright orb in a featureless haze. Very dramatic.

Cadmium Sky - $450

8” x10”” - Transparent Watercolor on 140lb. Arches Rough Watercolor Paper

Artist Comments: Brilliant blues etched against brilliant cadmium skies... you have to get up early to see this splendor.

Less Expensive Additions

to your Art Collection

Quality Miniatures are far less expensive in several ways. They cost less to purchase and it’s easier to find a place to display them in your home or office. And all of our miniatures come “unframed”... making them easier to pack in your suitcase... or cheaper to ship & mail.

We can however frame the artwork for you if you’d rather. Or you can frame it when you get back home.

The building was built in the 1950s as a replica of the Presidio that was here in the 1700s, by the Griffin's.
